I built this flyscreen box over the window for a client to keep out mosquitos.

I made the frame in four separate pieces and then attached one at a time, sealing the joins with aluminium angle and silicone.

The main structure of the box is timber and I painted it to match the rest of the house.

The idea came from my client, they wanted something easy to use without having to take a screen off from the inside to open the window.

The end result conforms nicely to their plan and they can open or close the windows any time without fussing about with an internal removable flyscreen.

The whole job took one day and even though it is not the solution to keeping out insects that most people would use I think it looks great and my client was completely satisfied.

  1. Just want to thank you for the flyscreen which turned out even better thanexpected.Strangely enough it seems to make the room look bigger, like amini extension. Sam is very happy with it and has found good use for theextra shelf. Only problem with it was the spider who got trapped on theinside and made an appearance in the middle of the first night!

  2. I am very very thankful to you for this easy-to-use guide. it will definitely help us for trying Flyscreen. thanks for great info.
